Jin Yan

Jin Yan
Address: 77 Castle Street, Castle Hill
Telephone: 8858 4848

Jin Yan is a Chinese restaurant that mainly serves seafood meals. I was disappointed with the service. The service took a while to bring our foods out and by the time the food came onto the table it was cold, but when we notified the staff they were very cooperative. Another problem was the noise in the restaurant. The noise did ruin the restaurant experience for me. I ordered the Salt Pepper Lobster which, when it was heated for me again, tasted amazing.

Pappa Rich

Pappa Rich

Address: Shop 5, 185 Broadway, Ultimo, 2007 NSW
Telephone: 9281 3228

Pappa Rich is a Malaysian restaurant that serves different types of asian cuisine. I was very impressed with this restuarant. One thing that stood out the most to me was the way we had to order our food - it was different to the conventional restaurant way. The servers ushered us to a table and handed us a paper and pencil were we had to write our order number for the food we wanted and at the end we had to press the buzzer on the table to call the waitress to give the paper to the chef. This made it easier for me and my friend to speak comfortably about which food we wanted and take as much time in choosing our meals.

I chose to taste the biryani rice and tandoori plate with naan (bread). I choose the tandoori plate because the description said the chicken would be spicy, but unfortunately my chicken was not even close to spicy. I was disappointed with that. Also the naan tasted a bit sweet which was not what I was expecting - and did not suit my taste buds. The side dishes of korma and the mayonnaise salad were both very nice. I absolutely loved the spicy biryani rice, it made up for the mediocre tandoori plate.

Overall, I give this restaurant a 3.5/5

Rashay's

Rashay's

Whenever you want to go out with friends or family - Rashay's is the place to go. This restaurant is very affordable, so it is great for anyone who is trying to save up on money but still want to experience restaurant quality food.

This restaurant was first situated in Liverpool, but due to its popularity it has branched out to different areas around Sydney. Now there is a Rashay's in Liverpool, Mount Druitt, Campelltown, North Rocks, Punchbowl, Penrith and Narellan.

When I arrived at Rashays (Mount Druitt), I was very delighted with the service of the restaurant. All of the wait staff of Rashays were very kind and assisted me and my friend in choosing an item from the numerous types of meals available on their menu. Rashays provides kids meals, seafood, pasta, chicken, pizza and several different types of desserts. I chose the grilled chicken and chips ($13.90), and my friend chose the grilled chicken salad ($16.90). Although we did have to wait for a while for our food, we were rewarded with the amazing meal that was prepared. The grilled chicken was moist and the chips were fresh. My friend was also happy with her meal. After our meals we both ordered dessert - mud cake sensation ($9.90). That mud cake tasted amazing. The cake was still warm and the ice cream on top was such a treat.

Overall I was very happy with the quality of food and the service that Rashays delivered. The only downside was the waiting time for our food, but that was just a minor hiccup to a great Rashays experience. I will be sure to come back!

Hogs Breath Café

Hogs Breath Café

Address:  Shop 4005, Level 4 Westpoint Shopping Centre

17 Patrick St, Blacktown, NSW, 2148

Phone: (02) 9621 1900
Opening Hours:
  • Lunch
    • Mon to Sun 11:30am - 3pm
  • Dinner
    • Mon to Fri 5pm - 11pm
    • Sat to Sun 3pm - 11pm

After a long tiring day of walking around the shops, aimlessly window shopping and occasionally shopping, the rumbling of my stomach reminds me of my need to refuel. Located on Level 4 of Westpoint is Hogs Breath Café.

The customer service is wonderful although I can find it a bit annoying when the waiter interrupts half-way through the meal, especially those moments when I have just taken a big bite, and yet I still find myself replying back kindly. In the time it takes for your order to arrive you can talk with your friend (that is if you bought one or if not, your mobile phone is the newest trend), whilst sipping on your drink.

On this day, I opted for the Chicken Parmigiana. This meal comes in two versions, the lite and the not-so-lite. I happened to buy the larger version (the not-so-lite) and ended up regretting it upon finding myself not as hungry as I initially thought I was, but I soldiered on and demolished it. At the end of the meal, you find yourself content after spending less than $30 on a very satisfying lunch.

Website: www.greatbagel.com.au

Opening Hours:

- Thursday: 9:00AM – 9:00PM
- Sat: 9:00AM – 5:00PM
- Sun: 10:00AM – 4:00PM

Located on the entry level of Macquarie Center, The Great Bagel & Coffee Co is a well-furnished shop with a welcoming atmosphere. After a long tiring day, there’s nothing better than sitting down with a well-made coffee and something to nibble on. For those who don’t have much of a budget or simply don’t want to spend much to attain something that fits their standards, this is the place!!

I sat in one of the booths, with the cushioned seats offering relief to my previously bag-laden shoulders, and the steam of my cappuccino awakening my senses. It was my first time to ever taste a bagel and in simple terms, I was pleased.

I ordered a cheese and tomato melt which was absolutely delicious. The melted cheese and the taste of a (for once, not sour) tomato was complemented well with the softness of the bagel. It was only after I finished that, that I wished for more, but sadly my wallet cried out to me.

My overall experience:
4.5/5
Next time, I plan on trying something new because Bagels are absolutely amazing!

The Albion

Address: 135 George St, Parramatta NSW 2150
Phone: (02) 9891 3288

Hours: 10:00am - 2:00 am

I recently went to The Albion with family for lunch over the long weekend and unfortunately i have to say i was displeased with the service. The restaurant wasn't overly busy and we were waiting close to an hour for our food. And finally, when it was ready, the staff got the orders wrong and we had to wait even longer. Although all the meals looked good, the mains were disappointing. Both the salad and pasta were beautiful, but the steaks were not cooked well, had a rubbery texture and had no flavour. It was nice to sit outside in the sun and eat but regrettably, the overall dining experience was poor.
